Location: The Trap Studio (3179 Franklin, Detroit, MI 48207)
Weekly Field Trip: Mondays to Joe Louis Greenway Park (Transportation provided at 11:30 AM)


Camp Goals:

  • Teach mindfulness techniques for focus, resilience, and calmness.

  • Develop emotional awareness and healthy self-expression in children.

  • Encourage healthy habits, including mindful eating and stress management.

  • Create a positive environment for confidence building and community connection.

  • Foster long-term skills to manage school and life challenges.

Welcome to an exciting 4-week summer experience designed to inspire mindfulness, build emotional awareness, and promote healthy habits! The "Mindfully Me" camp equips kids with tools for confidence, stress management, and well-being as they prepare for the new school year. Each week centers around a unique theme or "island," filled with engaging activities, yoga, meditation, and fun.

  • Improved ability to use breath and movement for emotional regulation.

  • Increased confidence in practicing mindfulness and expressing emotions.

  • Stronger understanding of the mind-body connection and healthy living.

  • A supportive community experience fostering friendships and teamwork.

  • Tools and techniques children can take into their daily lives for well-being.

Week 1: Yogaville - A Magical Yoga Adventure

Weekly Goal: Introduce kids to yoga in a fun and imaginative way, helping them discover their "superpowers" of focus, strength, and flexibility.

Daily Schedule:

9 AM - 9:30 AM: Welcome Circle & Mindful Intention Setting
9:30 AM - 10 AM: Yoga Class (Tree Pose, Warrior Pose, Child’s Pose)
10 AM - 10:30 AM: Mindful Games (Yoga Freeze Dance, Yogaville Quest)
10:30 AM - 11 AM: Snack & Social Time
11 AM - 11:30 AM: Meditation & Breathwork Practice
11:30 AM - 2 PM:

  • Monday: Field Trip to Joe Louis Greenway Park (Lunch & Outdoor Yoga Session)

  • Tuesday - Thursday: Strength-building poses, superhero roleplay, and confidence-boosting games.

Outcomes:

  • Children will demonstrate improved body awareness and balance in basic yoga poses.

  • Increased physical confidence and understanding of how movement impacts emotions.

  • Skills in staying focused and calm during active engagement.

Week 2: Meditation Island - Introducing Mindfulness

Weekly Goal: Teach mindfulness through visualization, sensory games, and meditation, helping kids focus, self-regulate, and stay present.

Daily Schedule:

9 AM - 9:30 AM: Gratitude Sharing in the Welcome Circle
9:30 AM - 10 AM: Guided Visualization in "Mindfulness Heroes" Adventure
10 AM - 10:30 AM: Breathwork Activities (Rainbow Breathing, Snake Breathing)
10:30 AM - 11 AM: Snack & Reflection Time
11 AM - 11:30 AM: Storytelling and Self-Awareness Activities
11:30 AM - 2 PM:

  • Monday: Field Trip to Joe Louis Greenway Park (Mindful Nature Walk & Lunch)

  • Tuesday - Thursday: Interactive activities like "Stillness Masters" and Mindfulness Maze.

Outcomes:

  • Children will practice and demonstrate mindful breathing techniques.

  • Improved focus and self-regulation through mindfulness exercises.

  • Greater ability to articulate personal feelings and observations during reflection activities.

Week 3: Breathwork Town - The Power of Our Breath

Weekly Goal: Equip kids with breathing techniques to calm stress, manage emotions, and develop focus for challenging situations.

Daily Schedule:

9 AM - 9:30 AM: Welcome Circle with Breath Awareness Exercises
9:30 AM - 10 AM: Yoga Flow & Focused Breathwork (e.g., Balloon Belly Breathing, Lions’ Breath)
10 AM - 10:30 AM: Breathing & Relaxation Games (Blowing Bubbles, Birthday Candles)
10:30 AM - 11 AM: Snack & Community Check-In
11 AM - 11:30 AM: Progressive Relaxation and Group Visualization Activities
11:30 AM - 2 PM:

  • Monday: Team Activity at Joe Louis Greenway Park ("Longest Bubble Challenge" & Lunch)

  • Tuesday - Thursday: Practice building personalized breathing techniques.

Outcomes:

  • Mastery of 2-3 breathing techniques for focus, relaxation, or energy.

  • Children can demonstrate how to use breath to manage stress in real-life scenarios.

  • Increased confidence in calming themselves independently during emotional moments.

Week 4: Expression Valley & Nourish Me Land

Weekly Goal: Combine emotional awareness and healthy habits to empower kids to express themselves confidently and build a mindful relationship with food.

Daily Schedule:

9 AM - 9:30 AM: Welcome Circle & Personal Growth Reflection
9:30 AM - 10 AM: Yoga for Emotional Balance (Mountain Pose, Warrior)
10 AM - 10:30 AM: Engaging Group Discussions on Gratitude and Emotional Expression
10:30 AM - 11 AM: Mindful Snack Transition and Focus Activities
11 AM - 11:30 AM: Cooking Activity (Simple, Healthy Snacks like Fruit Parfaits)
11:30 AM - 2 PM:

  • Monday: Gratitude Activity & Picnic Lunch at Joe Louis Greenway Park

  • Tuesday - Thursday: Affirmation Adventure and creative games like Emotion Charades.

Outcomes:

  • Children will identify and express emotions using healthy communication tools.

  • Improved understanding of the relationship between food and energy/mood.

  • Ability to create simple, nourishing snacks and discuss mindful eating practices.

Final Day Celebration (Thursday, August 14)
